Abstract
The surgical approach for urethroplasty depends on which segment of the urethra is involved.
Stricture of the membraneous urethra is best managed by periodic dilatation. However, if it becomes necessary to relieve an intractable stricture in this area, the Badenoch operation could be given consideration.
During the period from the beginning of 1971 through Oct. of 1973 six patients who had intractable posterior urethral stricture with ¢¥multiple fistula and sinus formation were submitted to the surgical treatment by the Badenoch method.
Followings were the results:
1) All of the patients except one belonged to the second and third decades.
2) The etiologic factor was external injuries mainly caused by traffic accident.
3) All of the patients had histories of one or more times of surgical intervention before admission.
4) Postoperative urethrographic findings were nearly normal, but clinically excellent 4 cases, improved I case and the remainder failed because of depressed fracture of pubic bone.
5) The postoperative complication such as impotence and incontinence was not observed except one who complained mild impotence before operation.
